A fabulous vintage 18ct white gold horseshoe set with 12 round-cut sapphires in a gorgeous teal-blue shade. The sapphires are well matched, totalling 1.2 carats, accompanied by three small diamond studs and a delicate diamond-cut border around the horseshoe that beautifully accentuates the overall sparkle.
Open-set to the back to allow more light, this piece truly radiates in sunlight, showing lovely depths of deep blue. Originally made to hang pointing downwards, I’ve adjusted it to an upright position — some call it superstition, but I find the slightly tilted, upright horseshoe far more aesthetically pleasing. The upright horseshoe is said to instil protection and good fortune. Traditionally worn upright, it was said to “hold” luck, keeping it close to the wearer.
Weighing just under 6 grams, this horseshoe has a satisfying weight and presence with a great scale that won’t get lost. It looks fabulous on a chunky chain and is perfect stacked among your pendant jumble.
