Victorian Pool of Light Rock Crystal Oval Top Locket Silver

A highly collectible Pool of Light Rock Crystal locket in an oval shape. The locket features a top opening hinge that cleverly twists to open the dome locket. The silver rims are nice and chunky and encase the crystal. The rock crystals are nicely set within and have a flatter surface which help sit the pendant.

The large size makes this extremely eye catching and the chunky bail allows a variety of chains - I really like that the bale swivels allowing the locket to rotate.

Pools of light were very popular during the Victorian era - thought to be little worlds of light. Highly prized for its purity and spiritual symbolism, believed to protect the wearer, ward off negative energy, and illuminate the soul.

Lockets like this were often worn as a token of love, devotion, or remembrance.

The Details

Era: Victorian

Material: Sterling Silver / Rock Crystal

Hallmarks: 925 partial marks

Measurements: 15.38g / 44mm drop inc bail/ 22mm width x 14mm depth

Condition: Very good antique condition. Rock Crystals are bright and smooth - there is one small scratch mark near one side of the rims. Silver has developed a nice patina with slight discolour within the frame upon opening the locket as expected with age - please see photos for reference.
