Diamond Ruby and Emerald Fly Drop

£530.00

Whether this is a fly, a bee or a bug, this is the sweetest little fellow. Beautifully set in silver and gold with a discreet 9ct gold hidden bail and backed in warm gold, this tiny insect dazzles with old European cut diamonds and a central emerald for his body, while a striking ruby stripe adds lively flashes of sparkle and colour. The two little eyes are finished with seed pearls. The open back setting allows more light to enter the stones creating a much more vivid display of colour.

In the Victorian era, insect jewellery was worn for meaning as much as decoration — a fly, bee, beetle or butterfly wasn’t seen as odd but as symbolic, emotional and often deeply personal.

This makes a perfect pendant drop: it looks fabulous layered in a pendant jumble or stacked with your favourite chains for a playful, elegant look. A small but mighty sparkle. I absolutely adore this intensely sparkling little creature — wear him solo for a pretty, understated finish or style him with your jumble to add character and charm.
