Victorian Etruscan Revival 15ct Mourning Brooch / Pendant Old Cushion Cut Diamond

This super fabulous Victorian mourning brooch is crafted in 15ct yellow gold and set with a subtle 0.10ct old cushion cut diamond within a star. The front of the brooch features a three tier design with lovely ornate detailing.

Dating from the late 19th century, it reflects the elegance and sentiment of the period, when mourning jewellery was worn to commemorate and honour loved ones.

To the back of the item there is a space that was traditionally used to store hair lockets or keepsakes which would usually have had a glass over it.

With a pleasing weight and well-balanced size, it offers a beautiful example of antique craftsmanship.

This would look brilliant if a pendant hoop was added in place of the safety chain to wear as a striking pendant.

Hallmarks: 15CT on reverse

Measurements: 31mm / 6g

Condition: Excellent Condition. Gold is in lovely condition, with very light discolouring as shown in the images commensurate with age. The diamond is well preserved and securely set. Brooch opens and closes well. The glass that would have originally been on the brooch has unfortunately been lost through the years. Some light surface wear, including some scratches to the front. There is a little discolouration to the solder points where the pin is attached. The pin is not gold. The old cut diamond measures 2.4mm / 0.10CT
